Celebrating Cancer Free | From Chemotherapy to Glam

I'm coming to the end of my ovarian cancer journey. I've had a hysterectomy and I've almost completed my 6mos of Chemotherapy. This has been an emotional time for me, I've have times when my mind went into some very dark places and have had to rely on family to bring me back into the light. Prayer and lots of support has gotten me through this diagnosis and I can say with a warm heart that it has taught me a lot about friendships and commitments. Am I cancer free? My CT scan shows no signs and my CA 125 levels are almost down to "0" from being in the low 100's. I've done everything I possibly could to aid the chemo in healing my body and the words from my Oncologist is that I'm now Cancer Free!

Sewing | Victorian Lace Fabric Haul

Today I made my first ever Fabric Video Haul which you can watch below featuring these beautiful fabrics that I picked up from the Los Angeles Fashion District this weekend. I'm in love with all these beautiful fabrics and my goal is to make a victorian vintage skirt like the one shown in the photos below.

Fashion | Victorian Gothic Hi-Low Maxi Skirt

I love the Victorian "gone with the wind" gothic flair skirts.  I've had my skirt for quite sometime and I also have it in a wine color. I believe I purchased them from a small boutique store in Los Angeles that has since gone out of business. I fell in love with these adorable Sam Edelman Winnie Boots when I spotted them at DSW Shoe Warehouse, I got them for $99 in the color black suede. My pink suede jacket is very lightweight and perfect to wear over a sleeveless top as I have done.  Even though it was cool in LA... around 65 degrees out, the sun was still shining so wearing a sleeveless top was perfect underneath this jacket.

Beauty | Anti-Aging Face Oils for Younger Looking Skin

Anti-Aging Face Oils
My introduction into face oils was when I was 45yrs old. Prior to that I had very oily skin. Right at the age of 45 my skin changed from oily to dry. I did contribute this to my flight attendant career at the time and being in the different climates frequently.  I remember my skin was so dry it was cracking around my mouth and peeling! I had to run to my Dermatologist and find out what was going on. I didn't know it was a result of dry skin, I thought I had some kind of infection because I would pick the flakes and they would turn red. My my.... when I found out the cold weather had caused all that skin damage, I was immediately put on face oils.

Fashion | How to wear a wrap shawl

Fashion Over 50
Nothing special, this is how I dress on a daily basis.... leggings, a blouse, flats and a wrap shawl to keep warm up top. It's never below 60 here in Los Angeles and when you're in menopause all you need up top is a shawl in case the wind blows.... ha ha.  I'm so sorry about all my east coast, mid-west and southern friends, I know it's cold but just think of how beautiful the snow falling is this time of the year.  I'll never have a snowy white background in my photos and I really envy all of the ladies that I follow when I see those beautiful snowy backgrounds on their photos.
