Sometimes I need extra support for my joint health and have to rely on nutritional supplements from outside sources. These come in the form of capsules, tablets, chewables and powders that are added into my daily routine on a continuous basis.

It's no secret that i'm an avid juicer and make green drinks regularly, just click on the Lifestyle tab to see all my post on juicing.  While I feel juicing provides me with so much of my daily requirements of vitamins and minerals naturally, there are some days when I feel I need extras.

I cycle everyday, do yoga and lift weights regularly and sometimes I experience aches in my joints.  I'm over 50 and I want to make sure my joints are in tip top shape and I will do what I have to to keep them from falling apart!

Juicing ~ Master Cleanse aka the Lemonade Diet

Over the weekend I embarked on another journey into the Master Cleanse aka the lemonade diet. I want to say right off, that this cleanse is not for the faint at heart!  Now just to recap, I have been juicing 2 days a week since Jan 1st.  I've chosen Thursday and Friday as my regular juicing days and this will continue as a part of my lifestyle and journey into wellness.

This past week I decided to throw in the Master Cleanse on Fri instead of juicing.  I found the ingredients on the internet and just hit it head on. BTW, did you know Beyonce lost 30lbs after her baby using the master cleanse.

Well, the master cleanse kicked my little juicing *&$#!  First off, the taste was really pleasant, it had a kick because of the cayenne but overall it didn't taste that bad.

Lately I've been having problems with my hands and fingers being cold.  I immediately knew that there might be a problem with my circulation.  So I started doing a little research in a few of the juicing communities that I belong to and all the literature I found referred to Beets as the source for improving circulation.

I discovered that beets has powerful antioxidants and are loaded with natural vitamins and minerals that unclogs the passageways of arteries and improves circulation.

So I decided to give it a try. I used beets, carrots and pineapples to sweeten.  I was very surprised at how good it tasted.  Now i'm juicing this drink two to three times a week and i'm happy to say that my problems are improving rapidly.

If there's one item that I purchased in 2013 that changed my life, I would have to say it was my Breville juicer. I actually bought it November 2013 so I haven't had it that long but i've been experimenting with it ever since.

What I can say through researching a few other online sites about food grouping is that, it does seem to work and the body metabolizes the foods better when they are grouped a certain way.... more to come on this so stay tuned!

If you take a moment and watch the 2 minute video below, I explain how I reorganized my refrigerator and the reasoning behind it.  I'm following a healthy eating regimen and i'm loosing weight naturally and not by starvation.   I read that says if you organize your refrigerator with most of the fruits and vegetables at the top, you will grab those healthy items first.  I found this to be very true.  My husband and I have totally changed the way we snack now.  I still have a cabinet (one) that I utilize for snacks but now there's a lot of healthy snacks and not chips or cookies, those have been replaced with healthy protein bars and pretzels.
