I'd never thought about these until I saw a review on another blog and I started wondering if I could find colors that suited my complexion. I headed over to the Clinique counter and started swatching on my arm and found the colors to be very vibrant. My lips are a little pigmented and the inside of my arm is the lightest area that comes closest to my natural lip color so I can pretty much see how the colors would appear on my lips. These lip lacquers cost $18.50 and come in 10 colors.

I wasn't sure what these would look like on me because there wasn't any swatches that I could find on my complexion but I decided to order them anyway because I love the whole idea of having stain lips. I will say that they did not disappoint... these lived up to my expectations and then some. After testing and wearing one of the colors all day, my lips were stained right up until the moment that I began to remove my makeup and prepare for my shower. I had about 8hrs of wear time and I can't tell you how pleased I was.

I bought these Colorpop Ultra Satin Lip stains under much hesitancy. I refer to my girls in our brown skin makeup group for the 411 on most of the affordable lip products that I don't normally buy to get their honest feedback. So when these came out, there was a plethora of comments and swatches with various opinions good and bad... just depending on who was swatching. Last year I purchased 14 of the original Colorpop Liquid Lipsticks, they were horrible on my lips and just not worth the efforts of applying. I finally gave them away to my friend's 16yr old daughter who just loved them! When these came out I hesitated but finally decided to get some of colors that I liked. There's 0.11ozs of products and these cost $6 each.

Some many independent cosmetic companies are getting my attention with their selection of liquid lipsticks. I just happened to stumble across swatches from Black Moon Cosmetics from a fellow beauty blogger that had purchased a couple and swatched them on her Blog. I thought the swatches were gorgeous on her brown skin so I followed the link to the website. There's are 8 liquid lipsticks in this collection and they retail for $18ea for 0.2 fl ozs of product.

This is my 3rd KVD liquid lipstick purchase. Slowly i'm collecting the colors I like. These aren't cheap, $24 and I must say they are well worth it. The formula is very moisturizing, not like some of the cheaper ones on the market such as Colorpop and LA Splash. I haven't tried Anastasia's liquid lipsticks which are $20 but I do want to buy at least one for comparison.

Beauty ~ PeterThomasRoth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads & the LipstoDieFor in Pink Bomshell Review and Thoughts
I will begin by saying that this is my first foray into skin peels so I thought I would begin with the PeterThomasRoth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads because I had previously received a sample from Sephora and really liked them. It's kind of hard to judge how your skin would react and feel to just one sample peel and to be honest, I didn't have any reaction from that one peel and that's why I decided to purchase the full size jar. I didn't want to experience a strong reaction from any at home peels and since this was my very first one, I was quite happy with my selection.

I have to admit that this La Mer "the lip balm" is one of those little luxuries that you must treat yourself with every once in awhile. I tried a little sample that I bought from a beauty blog sale along with some other La Mer samples and I just loved it. Honestly, at first glance, it looks like a big pile of wax but when you read the story behind "the lip balm" you realize that you're getting not just a lip balm but an emollient that's full of hydrants that only La Mer can put together. I was drawn to purchasing the full size because my natural lip color has turned from pink to brown over the years. I've never smoked so I will just say it's from the elements of nature I suppose. La Mer's entire formulation is based upon the premise of lightening and this product is no different.

I have been loyal to the Fashion Fair Cosmetics Brand for about 30yrs. They were the first cosmetics company for woman of color to hit the major department stores. There were a few others back then but they weren't nearly as hugh as Fashion Fair. I've seen this company dwindle down to the bare minimum over the years and has since totally lost their competitive edge with the major mainstream cosmetic companies. These are all of the Fashion Fair Foundations that I own and I use them lovingly.

Swatches ~ Mac Vamplify, MACnificent Me Luzmaria & Tresor, Dazzleshadow and Studio Sculpt Superblack Mascara
I purchased several items from the Mac Cosmetics store in my local Macy's and a few others online. I don't think that I have very many fall lipsticks so I wanted to add just a few to my stash. I'm still not sure if dark lipsticks a flattering on women over a certain age but I couldn't resist trying these two colors since the swatches I'd seen were breathtaking and complimented the fall eye looks that i've been so eagerly trying.

This was the birthday gift that I picked up from Sephora, of course I had to make another purchase so I thought I would try some of the Sephora foundation I've heard so much about. Anywho here are the swatches.

This is my first ever Kat Von D purchase. I've been eyeing her liquid lipsticks ever since they hit the market.

I haven't bought any Mac products in quite awhile so I started looking at swatches for colors that I thought would compliment my skin tone. They came out with a ton of matte lipsticks but only three of them caught my eye. The 4th Apres Chic is one that I had for awhile but never got around to swatching or wearing for that matter. I'm not big on wearing lipsticks during the summer primarily because I don't wear foundations... only powders. Lipsticks make me feel totally made up so I shy away from them in the summer and keep the colors neutral on my face. Below are swatches of these colors.

After buying the Sephora Lip Stains, I've completely fallen in love with the liquid lipsticks now. I ordered mine online from allcosmeticswholesale, they were $11.98 at the time I ordered them and now they're $13.98, which is the same price on the LA Splash website. As you can see in the photo, there are various names for them, but they are all liquid lipsticks.

Over the last several months I finally purchased all the Too Faced liquid lipsticks that I had on my wish list, I have 11 total, 7 Melted and 4 Melted Metal which I reviewed here. The melted berry reminds me of some of my favorite fuchsia lipsticks by Mac except that these are liquid and long wearing not like many lipsticks I have.

I'm quietly moving away from lipsticks and becoming an adoring fan of the long-wearing. long-lasting lip stain world. Probably sometime in the near future I will have all my 100+ lipsticks up for sale in my Poshmark Closet. However, until that happens, they will remain tucked away in my lipstick drawer until further notice. My first foray into lip stains was actually last year when I picked up a package of lip tints from Costco's. The brand was from Pati Dubroff and they were called Aqua Tint Lip Glosses. They were very wet but dried matte with a slightly gloss finish.

In commemoration of Givenchy’s 10th year anniversary couture collection, there release of the Givenchy Le Rouge Couture Edition Fuchsia Irresistible lipstick made it’s debut for Spring in early April this year. Due to my surgery in late April, I wasn’t able to photograph or write any post, needless to say, this item was one of many waiting to be reviewed.

I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased three of the new Too Faced Metal Liquified Metallic Lipsticks in Dream House, Jelly and Violet. I couldn't really find swatches on brown lips to really get a good idea of what the colors would look like so I ordered these on blind faith.

I stopped by my local Bloomingdales specifically to search for lip products in the colors of oranges and corals. I can honestly say that these colors are the absolute perfect colors for my complexion in the spring and summer months. But to my surprise, I don't have a lot of them. I really want pigmented glosses that are long wearing and that I can substitute for lipstick.
