Lifestyle | February 2017 Blogger Income Report

The data below covers two blogs, this one and my Wigmaking Blog.  My Wigmaking blog serves as my business blog because it's tied to my LLC and also my online store  Lace Wig Straps.  Both blogs, however, I use for affiliate marketing which I've just started actively doing last year. I've decided to only report the affiliate income that I've actually received a payment from... most affiliate companies have a threshold that you have to meet before they will send payment.

Lifestyle | How I Stay Organized Using my Pocket Size Covey Franklin Planner

Pocket Covey Franklin Planner
I would like to ask... are there any Covey Franklin Planner users in the house?  I have been a Covey Franklin Planner girl for about 20 years.  Over the years I've had about 5 different binders ranging from the largest to the smallest. Since I've been retired I've settled for the Pocket size.  I absolutely love the pocket size because it can fit into any purse that I decide to carry. I sometimes just leave my house with my key chain that has a small zip pouch that I can stuff my license and debit card into if need be.... but I really like carrying purses because I love having all my 'stuff' with me.

Lifestyle | 6 Great Tips for Indoor Photography

Behind the Scenes Beauty Blogger Photography
As an over 50's Beauty Blogger, I take my responsibilities as an amateur photographer pretty seriously. I'm excited when my photos turn out exactly like I want them and even more excited when I get nice compliments. My makeup table also serves as my photography studio.  I've found that I need very little space to take great photos as long as I have good lighting.

As you can see in the photos below I use three lights which is the standard for tabletop photography. On top my table i'm using a flexible desk lamp. The other two lights are on adjustable light stands with light sockets attached.  I made a one time investment and purchased the Impact Studio Lighting System.  I do not use the reflectors as shown on the website because I don't feel they are necessary for small area photography, however they are good to have just in case you are making videos.

Lifestyle | January 2017 Blogger Income Report

Blogger Income Reports

This year I've made the decision to become transparent and post my monthly income and expenses. I'm not by any means a successful blogger, I don't make a lot of money from my blogs or my online business. I currently have two blogs, this one and  I consider WigWeaves my business blog because it's tied to my LLC and also my online store  Both blogs, however, I've decided to use for affiliate marketing which I've just started actively doing last year. I have never done affiliate marketing before because I've always thought it was too much work even though I know some people have become very successful at it.

Lifestyle | MLK Weekend 2017 Mammoth Mountain Ski Trip + Video

Mammoth Mountain Ski Trip
My family and I spent 4 days over the MLK holiday weekend at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. It's one of our local ski resorts that's about a 6 hour drive for us. It's also a big weekend for skiers because it's a 3-day weekend and the kids are out of school. I always book our condo over the Christmas holiday because there's always a huge selection available at the base of the mountains close to the village where there's ski-in/ski-out and walking distance to the lifts.

Celebrating Cancer Free | From Chemotherapy to Glam

I'm coming to the end of my ovarian cancer journey. I've had a hysterectomy and I've almost completed my 6mos of Chemotherapy. This has been an emotional time for me, I've have times when my mind went into some very dark places and have had to rely on family to bring me back into the light. Prayer and lots of support has gotten me through this diagnosis and I can say with a warm heart that it has taught me a lot about friendships and commitments. Am I cancer free? My CT scan shows no signs and my CA 125 levels are almost down to "0" from being in the low 100's. I've done everything I possibly could to aid the chemo in healing my body and the words from my Oncologist is that I'm now Cancer Free!

Lifestyle | One Month Chemotherapy Update | #chemotherapy #ovariancancer

| #chemotherapy #ovariancancer
Today I wanted to share what I ate on #chemotuesdays with you just to give you an idea of how things are going. For the most part, I haven't gotten sick at all from chemo and I've had 4 rounds so far.  On my actual chemo day, I do a liquid diet until dinnertime. Then for dinner I have soup and salad.  I have to also take a nausea pill to make sure that I keep it down but for the most part, my diet is still strong and normal except for Tuesday's. In any rate, I explained all this in my video below!

Lifestyle | My YouTube Video Earnings | What I Make Monthly

My YouTube Video Earnings
(click photo to expand view)
When it comes to earning money on YouTube, the figures fall all over the map. There's little we can do but hope that all of our hard work and efforts yield some sort of profit from month to month. Yes, we all feel YT is a hobby and something to pass the time, but when you're retired like me, you look forward to seeing that monthly deposit from Google in your bank account each month.

Lifestyle ~ Menopause | Hormones | Hysterectomy | Ovarian Cancer

Menopause | Hormones | Hysterectomy | Ovarian Cancer

The Present  -  My hysterectomy is scheduled for June 23rd and I'm currently 56yrs old. It all started about 3 month ago when I felt some pain on and off on my right side. I was about 2 month out from my annual GYN appointment so I decided to just wait until then because the pain wasn't that bad. To be completely honest, I was in the gym exercising everyday and my life was pretty normal. During my exam, the doctor felt something on my right side and decided to schedule an ultrasound. About 3 days later I got the call with my results, the ultrasound showed a very large mass covering my right ovary.

Lifestyle ~ Stanton Mahogany Storage Cabinets for Makeup Organization

I recently decided to replace everything in my makeup/office with mahogany furniture so that everything looks more formal. Initially on each side of my makeup table were two silver Helmer's that I purchased awhile back from Ikea, but due to my huge (not massive) makeup collection, I definitely needed more storage. There wasn't many options for mahogany storage but I came across these beautiful Stanton storage cabinets online that came in multiple colors.... black, white, cherry, antique grey and chestnut.

Lifestyle ~ My Week In Instagram 5/8/16

Happy Mother's Day to all my beautiful mothers and friends around the world! This week I did some rollerskating at the beach, lot's of fitness selfies, I cook everyday but highlighted a few favorites, I decided to do a wig comparison with me and the queen Bey because I called out her hair stylist for sending her to the Met Gala with that mess on her hair!  All in all... another great week!

Lifestyle ~ My Week In Instagram 4/15/16

@goddesslily on Instagram

My life is all about me.... sure i'm a mother... a wife... and a grandmom but I realized that i'm also the rock and foundation of my family..... I organize, coordinate, plan and communicate with everyone about all the decisions going on in their lives.  So of course I have to keep me together because if I don't.... who will they call!  I love going to the gym... I mean I love it.  I go everyday from 1pm to 3:30pm and I love wearing cute exercise clothes.  Now you already know I love makeup so I don't even have to mention that because I apply eye makeup whether I leave the house or not.  It's a habit, I put on my contacts and do my eyebrows then do my eyes.... individual eyelashes and all.  But as far as what I wear to the gym... it has to be cute and tight because I hate baggy fitting active wear. My boobs are my assets so I show them religiously.... bra tops, tight tanks and leggings is my thing.  The younger girls wear cheeky shorts and bra tops showing their abs and cheeks and I love that they're young and comfortable enough to walk around showing their goods.... more power to them.... but all they see from me is a little top boob..... more appropriate for this over 50 gal! Goddesslily on Instagram

Lifestyle ~ From Patent to Product to Profit | Selling on Amazon & Shopify + Video

How to write a Patent, Legalzoom

I can't believe that my Wig Support Strap Patent published on Nov 2013 is 2yrs old and that I am selling a product in the American marketplace. Fast forward to 2015, I have learned a lot about marketing and selling products. I started out selling on Etsy, then I moved to Amazon which I'm currently selling on and just recently opened my online store on Shopify. Between Amazon and Shopify, I am doing pretty good but there's always room for improvement.  I have set some pretty amazing goals for my product this year which includes advertising and networking for more exposure.

Lifestyle ~ My Botox Results | 8 Months Post-op from Upper Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) + Video

 Upper Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
I have a standing two month appt with my Plastic Surgeon during my first year of post-op surgery as part of my continuing therapy on my upper eyelids.  Not every Plastic Surgeon does this but Dr. Sadati is an awesome Doctor that really cares about his patient's well being.  On this appt, I was interested in seeing if Botox would lift the muscle on my right eye (ptosis eyelid) or droopy eyelid as some may call it. Since Botox is not permanent and I was also wanting to have my frown lines smoothed out, I though now was better than ever to try it. I bought 20 units of Botox, which was the minimum and at $10 a unit, I paid $200 dollars and received 8 shots.

Lookbook ~ My Week in Instagram 11/14/15

mature | over 50 Beauty Blogger | #womenofcolor |#brownskin

I can't believe that I've only posted once in the last week here on my Beauty Blog.... honestly, I'm not neglecting her it's just that I haven't taken the time to do any photography of the huge stash of makeup that I need to review.  So.... this week I've been weight lighting very hard and have finally started to see results around my tummy and a few other areas as well.  I made and uploaded two videos, one which I demo'd using the NuFace Skin Toning Device and another one on the Salonlabs Indian hair that I recently tinted lighter.  There's couple of photos showing my makeup of the day which I always post on social media along with a detailed description of everything i'm wearing in the photos.  I hope that you're following me on IG... I always follow back as well.

Lifestyle ~ 6 Month Post-op from Upper Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) + Video

I'm 4 days away from my 6mo surgery date which was April 28th so technically i'm 6mos post-op.  My eyes have settled really well and i'm very pleased with everything.  I still have a noticeable scar on my right eyelid that bothers me every time I apply makeup.  It just reminds me that this wasn't a perfect surgery. But as far as my eyes being symmetrical and even, i'll say that they're pretty much on point.... at least I have no complaints.  I'll always have a smaller right eye due to a childhood injury (yes I was hit in the eye with a hard ball), but my eyes are even as far as length and width.

Lifestyle ~ 9/11 A Flight Attendant's Perspective

Goddesslily September 11th From A Flight Attendant's Perspective

I spent the greater part of my adult life as a Flight Attendant for Northwest Airlines. Some of you probably remember NWA, which was later bought out by Delta Airlines.  My flight attendant career spanned almost 20yrs until I retired in 2008.

As I look back over my career, traveling around the world, site seeing and meeting so many wonderful people, I can't help but realize how blessed I was.  I've been in numerous emergencies throughout my career but none as devastating as the 9/11 tragedy... so for this reason I feel blessed.
