Fitness | My One Year Weight Loss Anniversary

I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of August 2015 my birthday month, I was weighing 160 lbs and I wasn't happy with how I looked or felt. One year later i'm at my goal weight of 135 lbs. I started out doing random juice fasts once a week and walking everyday, by November I had lost 5 lbs.  I added weightlifting to my program and begin taking swimsuit photos every month because that's what the bodybuilders did on Instagram. My scale fluctuated up and down as I began to put on muscle and shed the fat.... so I relied only on my photos and not the scale...  well maybe just a wee bit.

I'll start out by saying that my husband doesn't like these leggings by 90 Degrees by Reflex that I purchased on Amazon for $19.99 but I like them and that's all that matters! I'm on a mission to get all the colors that I like because the quality of these legging are so nice and they come all the way up to my navel which I love. My hat was also purchased on Amazon here, it comes in 17 different colors for $10.50/ea.

Fitness | How I'm Conquering My Cellulite with this Butt Blaster

I have been searching for ways to conquer the cellulite on my upper thighs and buttock to no avail. I came across an infomercial one night showing this Ashley Black Fascia Blaster and I thought that I would order it.  I have been using it religiously and have saw some tremendous results which are in the 3min video below.  This product was quite expensive, $89 to be exact so I choose not to endorse it but I have listed similar items below which I found on Amazon that I feel can do the exact same thing.

This is my first purchase from the 90 Degrees by Refles  Power Flex Racerback Tank Top collection on Amazon.  These tanks come in 40 different colors and the cost is $12.99/ea.  I ordered only one in Heather Magenta because I wanted to see how well it fitted. Since I only wear these to the gym, I like then really snug around my small waist. I ordered a size X-small to fit my waist instead of my boobs, I'm a 34DD up top but when it comes to fitness/active wear, I have to go down a size to fit my waist. I really like the quality of this tank and to be honest, the quality and fabric is on the same level as my Nike tank tops.

When I saw these Vesi Star Capri pants on Amazon for the price of $16.99, I though no way, what are they made of! Of course my curiosity got the best of me so I decided to order two pairs (photo of the pink at the bottom), they also come in 5 different very bright colors. To my surprise they are fabulous!  They are made of a very thick cotton/lycra and are very stretchable.  The only come in two sizes S/M & L/XL. I ordered the S/M and when I first took them out of the package, I thought (no way) are these going to fit... they looked tiny!

Fashion ~ Atheleisure Wear | Abstract Legging

These abstract leggings are similar to the other ones reviewed here, they are also from "90 Degrees by Reflex" bought on Amazon.  I ordered these also in an X-small and they did not come all the way up on my waist, but they do fit really snug.  My reasoning for ordering an X-small (even though I wear a small) is so they can sit really tight on my waist, but these sit low (even though they are sussposed to be high-waisted) because they are too small. So when ordering the pattern prints... order your true size!  The solids seem to work for me in an X-small, I have 4 pairs in Black and 1 pair in Grey.... you can find my review of them here.

Fashion ~ Atheleisure Wear | Floral Leggings & Tank

 Believe it or not, these leggings are from the brand "90 Degrees by Reflex", they make about 30 different colors from solids to prints to florals in a wide variety of colors. You can find them on Amazon for $19 a pair.  I bought sizes XS because I have a really narrow waist (24") and I want them to really fit my waist instead of my hips... I did have to wiggle them up over my hips but once they were on, they're really comfortable.  My Nike tank top came from Sports Authority and I've had it for awhile now.

Fitness | Why Capturing my Journey by Cell Phone is a Game Changer for Me

I happened to ask a friend how she got so many full profile great selfies on her IG page and she said she props her cell phone upright on a stand and sets the timer on her camera for 10secs.  How did I not know this! This is a game changer for me now because I have always taken the time to set up my Sony on a tripod and take photos in my backyard.  Besides the fact that my iPhone 6 takes lousy photos, I will still be able to capture the moments when I come home from the gym and want to do some fitness checks.

One of my favorite pastimes is scrolling through all the beautiful photos of women in fitness on Instagram.  One thing's for sure, they are totally inspirational and have the best gym outfits to flaunt all those sexy muscles.  My goals hasn't been to become a fitness competitor but to become close as possible looking like one. It just seems like I workout harder when i'm looking cute although when I wear this to the gym, I'll wear a matching tank top over it. I follow a lot (an extremely unhealthy amount) of fitness people on Instagram and a lot of them are quite younger than myself.  I love everything about them from their toned abs right down to the food pics they post... its just sheer motivation for me if nothing else.  But lately I've become obsessed with all the new fitness wear or active wear that these young ladies seem to be wearing.... I mean i'm crushing really hard because they look really good and I'm sure they feel really good wearing it.

Pretty much all I was doing was limiting my sugar intake. I am literally avoiding products that contains sugar.... it is the only way that my body will move fat.

Fitness | Getting Bikini Ready for Summer is No Easy Feat

I don't know about you but i'm anticipating summer and being in a bikini. I've been working very hard on the nutrition portion of my fitness regimen which makes up 70% of my entire journey.  Even when i'm eating healthy and watching my sugar intake, it's still hard to move fat off my body and build muscle. It's not a matter of weight lifting and doing cardio, i'm in the gym lifting weights & doing cardio 5 days a week, I'm in menopause and my body just responds slowly to exercising..... so it's really all about nutrition for me. I have (for the most part) given up sugar, I eat very healthy and wholesome foods that I have to actually prepare everyday. I realize that this is my life now and I love it! I still feel that I have a ways to go, I want to look slightly more muscular (or toned) for those of you that are scared of that word.  I want to feel more stronger to keep doing the things that I love... playing golf with my husband, playing tennis with my grandchildren, going swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter!

I started my fitness journey during my birthday month in August 2015.  The photos in the pink sports bra shows me at 34% bodyfat and weighing 151.5.  Through a series of sugar detox, weight lifting and cardio, I got my bodyfat down to 25%.  I don't weigh myself much but the last time I weigh myself I was 144.0 and i'm a whole lotta muscle now.

Today was Hamstring/Glutes day in the gym. I included a photo for you of my routine that I keep in my notes section. I have routines for each body part and I alternate between them. If I see something else I like, I will add it and implement it into my workout.  Usually I pick 3 out of the exercises listed and do about 3 or 4 sets of each.... then I finish up with abs and 30 minutes of cardio. I do cardio everyday so that I won't get bulky.

I had a good leg workout today but i'm sore as hell!  I have to tell you that except for some Shredz protein powder and fat burner made especially for women.... i'm all natural. I tried the BCAA (branch chain amino acids), the pre-workout powder & the whey powder but none of it took the soreness away so I figured why am I buying this expensive stuff?  I was at Costco's looking at the bone and joint stuff and I picked up some Osteo Bi-Flex for joint health. I figured with all the vitamins and minerals it contained it should work wonders on the muscles as well. But until it kicks in.... it's hot baths and Epson salt for now.

When they say even the best of us gain during the holidays they weren't kidding. Unless you're single with no kids, grandkids or a mate to cook for then you probably stuck to your fabulous diet, but if you're like me with all of the above, then this probably happened to you as well. The funny thing is... I didn't even know that I was gaining weight until the very end of December. The scale remained at 140.0 and it wasn't until January 1st that the scale changed to 145.0 and boy was I shocked! Why does 5lbs make such a difference on me?
