Fitness | Finally The Perfect High-Waisted Leggings That Cover Everything

I have been seeing quite a few of the younger ladies in my gym wearing these high-waisted leggings and I always wondered where they found them.  I started doing a little of my own research and low and behold I found them for $22 a pair here.  The name of them is 90 Degrees by Reflex and they are very comfortable and quite thick and you absolutely can not see through them.

I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of August 2015 my birthday month, I was weighing 160 lbs and I wasn't happy with how I looked or felt. One year later i'm at my goal weight of 140 lbs. Because of my height 5'7" I pretty much can't go lower than that without losing muscle. I started out doing random juice fasts once a week and walking everyday, by November I had lost 5 lbs. My body will only lose about 1 lb every two weeks because I don't have any metabolism. I added weightlifting to my program and begin taking swimsuit photos every month because that's what the bodybuilders did on Instagram. My scale fluctuated up and down as I began to put on muscle and shed the fat.... so I relied only on my photos and not the scale...  well maybe just a wee bit.

I have been searching for ways to conquer the cellulite on my upper thighs and buttock to no avail. I came across an infomercial one night showing this Ashley Black Fascia Blaster and I thought that I would order it.  I have been using it religiously and have saw some tremendous results which are in the 3min video below.  This product was quite expensive, $89 to be exact so I choose not to endorse it but I have listed similar items below which I found on Amazon that I feel can do the exact same thing.

Fitness | Why Capturing my Journey by Cell Phone is a Game Changer for Me

I happened to ask a friend how she got so many full profile great selfies on her IG page and she said she props her cell phone upright on a stand and sets the timer on her camera for 10secs.  How did I not know this! This is a game changer for me now because I have always taken the time to set up my Sony on a tripod and take photos in my backyard.  Besides the fact that my iPhone 6 takes lousy photos, I will still be able to capture the moments when I come home from the gym and want to do some fitness checks.

Fitness over 50 body comparisionI the last time I posted a side by side photo was back in January, I had fell off my diet over the holidays and I wasn't too happy with myself.  So I picked up where I left off and continued on the same nutritional program that I was on prior to the holidays arriving. Pretty much all I was doing was limiting my sugar intake. I am literally avoiding products that contains sugar.... it is the only way that my body will move fat.

Fitness | Getting Bikini Ready for Summer is No Easy Feat

I don't know about you but i'm anticipating summer and being in a bikini. I've been working very hard on the nutrition portion of my fitness regimen which makes up 70% of my entire journey.  Even when i'm eating healthy and watching my sugar intake, it's still hard to move fat off my body and build muscle. It's not a matter of weight lifting and doing cardio, i'm in the gym lifting weights & doing cardio 5 days a week, I'm in menopause and my body just responds slowly to exercising..... so it's really all about nutrition for me. I have (for the most part) given up sugar, I eat very healthy and wholesome foods that I have to actually prepare everyday. I realize that this is my life now and I love it! I still feel that I have a ways to go, I want to look slightly more muscular (or toned) for those of you that are scared of that word.  I want to feel more stronger to keep doing the things that I love... playing golf with my husband, playing tennis with my grandchildren, going swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter!

I started my fitness journey during my birthday month in August 2015.  The photos in the pink sports bra shows me at 34% bodyfat and weighing 151.5.  Through a series of sugar detox, weight lifting and cardio, I got my bodyfat down to 25%.  I don't weigh myself much but the last time I weigh myself I was 144.0 and i'm a whole lotta muscle now.

Today was Hamstring/Glutes day in the gym. I included a photo for you of my routine that I keep in my notes section. I have routines for each body part and I alternate between them. If I see something else I like, I will add it and implement it into my workout.  Usually I pick 3 out of the exercises listed and do about 3 or 4 sets of each.... then I finish up with abs and 30 minutes of cardio. I do cardio everyday so that I won't get bulky.

I had a good leg workout today but i'm sore as hell!  I have to tell you that except for some Shredz protein powder and fat burner made especially for women.... i'm all natural. I tried the BCAA (branch chain amino acids), the pre-workout powder & the whey powder but none of it took the soreness away so I figured why am I buying this expensive stuff?  I was at Costco's looking at the bone and joint stuff and I picked up some Osteo Bi-Flex for joint health. I figured with all the vitamins and minerals it contained it should work wonders on the muscles as well. But until it kicks in.... it's hot baths and Epson salt for now.

When they say even the best of us gain during the holidays they weren't kidding. Unless you're single with no kids, grandkids or a mate to cook for then you probably stuck to your fabulous diet, but if you're like me with all of the above, then this probably happened to you as well. The funny thing is... I didn't even know that I was gaining weight until the very end of December. The scale remained at 140.0 and it wasn't until January 1st that the scale changed to 145.0 and boy was I shocked! Why does 5lbs make such a difference on me?

Taking cell phone pics at the gym is never fun but I must say that I'm exiting 2015 in the best shape that I've been in all year.  I feel great, I'm stronger than ever (though sore as hell) and I'm actually squeezing back into my size 4 jeans.  My fitness journey hasn't been easy but I have a program that I've adapted to and I actually look forward to working out.  I'm in the gym 5 days a week for about 2 hrs at a time.  Tues and Thurs are cardio & upper body days, while Mon, Wed & Fri are lower body days. If you look closely right above my boobs, you might see a little plastic peeping out.... yep on cardio days i'm wrapped with Albolene and Saran Wrap and i'm wearing my waist trainer.  If you want to read more on how I wrap my body... just look to the right of this Blog in the "Popular Post" list and you'll see that little pic with the albolene and waist trainer... it's my #1 post with more than 25K views in counting.  I also have a YT video in the post showing you exactly how I wrap my body.... it too has over 100K views.

For me... warming up my body before I do any kind of weightlifting is very important because I don't want to pull or tear any muscles.  Prior to this, I used to do a light yoga stretch when I first arrived at the gym.  That proved not to be enough warm up for my body because I actually pulled a muscle in my upper shoulder that still hasn't healed.  Now, I do what I call a Cardio Warm-up that actually targets every muscle in my body.  At the same time, I warm up my abs by lying on a mat and working them in-between my step-ups, I included this in the video also. I give you a really short 3min video demo but my entire warm-up routine is about 30 minutes. I do this every time I arrive at the gym for now.

I'm really late posting these pics here on my Blog but never late than never! So as you can see i've been moving a little fat from my upper body and not as much as I would like from my lower.  I am pleased with the weight loss so far, but remember that I am weight lifting so what I'm trying to do is build muscle and burn fat at the same time.  Some people do it the opposite way, they lose about 25lbs first then start the weightlifting process.

Hi everyone and welcome back to my November Fitness Vlog.  I will be updating you regularly with my progress and throughout my journey into weightlifting and muscle toning.  I don't really like the phrase bodybuilding because it really sounds very masculine.  I definitely want to lose a lot of the unnecessary fat that my body has been harboring and replace it with very sexy muscle but I know it will take time and patience.  My personal trainer @fitqueenofhearts said it will take up to 6 months to see the kind of results that I'm looking for and this is only by putting in dedicated exercising five days a week which I am relentlessly doing.

Fitness | Day 30 of my 30 Day Sugar Detox Program + Video

First and foremost I want you to keep in mind that I am 56yrs old. My goal was to loose 10lbs and I actually did!  So what have I learned from denying my body sugar.... I've learned how to eat a little more healthier and clean and I've learned that I can absolutely live without white sugar and artificial sweeteners.  However, after having another consultation with my Coach, I added raw unpasteurized honey into my diet. She explained to me that raw honey was a food that the body would break down into fuel which would ultimately be used as fuel for exercising.  Now when it comes to exercising, I'm rollerskating at the beach for 4 miles (2 miles each way) 3 days a week and I'm in the gym lifting weights 3 days a week for about 2hrs.  I always rest my body on the Sabbath.

Writing this post comes with pleasure and pain especially since today is my 56th birthday.  I'm currently on a 30 Day Sugar Detox program and i'm happy to say that i'm half way through.  It's been hard, i'm not going to lie. It's hard to really know how much sugar we're consuming on a daily basis because sugar is in everything.... I mean everything!
