Beauty ~ Masqueology Lifting & Firming Mask for Anti-Aging

 Masqueology Lifting & Firming Mask
I was searching through Sephora online for Masque when I came across these facial mask by MasqueologyThere are 3 packets in a box for $24/box. I never tried these all over facial mask before and was very intrigued.... so I ordered two boxes.  I used to have very oily skin but through the aging process my skin has become a bit drier in some areas. My concentration is now on hydrating and moisturizing while lifting and firming... which seems to be the main concern for women 50+.

Beauty ~ Algenist Target Deep Wrinkle Minimizer

Algenist Target Deep Wrinkle Minimizer
I received a small sample of this Algentist Targeted Deep Wrinkle Minimizer from Sephora in one of my past orders.  I probably had it for months without even realizing what a great product it was.  So one day I was searching through my "Product Sample Stash" looking for a particular item when this sample caught my eye. I pulled it out and said to myself, humm.... I think i'll try this tomorrow.  Well, before I randomly try anything  now I always look up reviews.  I read a few positive notes on this item and decided to try it.  It felt amazing on my skin and left me with a very matte complexion.... and that was the selling point because I have very oily skin.

Beauty ~ Clarins Instant Light | Lip Comfort Oil | Review

Clarins Instant Light | Lip Comfort Oil
I have become sort of a fanatic with my lips now that it's winter.  Lipsticks and lip glosses just haven't provided me with the kind of moisture that I need to get me through the long winter months.  Today I have to review for you the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils. I purchased two of them to see how they'll hold up in keeping my lips moist during my fitness workouts as well as running errands. These lip oil comes in three flavors honey, raspberry and red cherry. The size is 0.025 fl ozs and cost $24 each.

Beauty ~ Clarins Extra-Firming Lift Serum

I received a sample of the Clarins Extra-Firming Tightening Lift Botanical Serum but i'm not sure where, probably Sephora. Anyway, I decided to use it one morning underneath my primer. To my amazement I noticed a few things immediately. First, my large pores were closing up, second, the lines in my forehead were disappearing and lastly, the skin around my eyes became slightly tighter.  I don't have bags or puffiness but I do have fine lines due to aging but I was sold on how this product made my skin look and feel. The packet had enough for two applications so I decided to try it again the next day just to be sure what I was experiencing was real. Well, I noticed the same things happening again and I liked the results so I decided to purchase the full tube.  This product contains 1.0 Fl Oz and cost $87.00.

Lookbook | Mac Reflex Bronze Glitter

For this look I used Sugarpill Burning Heart Quad.  I used all for colors and I think you can clearly see the placement of each of the eyeshadows. I applied my Jordana Cat Eyeliner in 07 Suede which is a blue/purple but it came out really blue in the photos.  For pigment, I used Mac Reflex Bronze Glitter which is a really pretty bronze, but again it looks gold in the photos.  I did not use flash at all, I recently purchased the Sony a5000 because a lot of girls on IG use it and I like their photos. I'm still playing around with the ISO settings adjusting them higher or lower. I also use the setting "P" for portrait so that I can have "AF" automatic focus which is crucial for taking close self photos.

Beauty | How To Avoid Mistakes While Using the PMD Microdermabrasion Device

How to Microdermabrasion
After evaluating my skin and wanting to improve the look of my large pores, I decided to pull out my trusty old PMD Microdermabrasion Device.  After not having used it in a couple of years I figured it would do the trick of shrinking my pores and smoothing out my skin again. Needless to say, I didn't re-read any of my instructions.... I just went for it.  After going over my entire face (avoiding the sensitive areas like eyes), I immediately noticed some red streaks and I started flipping out. I was like... what have I done to my skin! I grabbed my Aloe Vera and started patting it over my entire face and it was burning like crazy. Finally it settled down and I had time to think and reflect on why this has happened.

Beauty ~ How I Reversed The Aging Process | NuFace Microcurrent Facial Toning Device | Video Demo

 NuFace Microcurrent Facial Toning Device

In 2014, at 55yrs old, clearly you can see that my eyelids was starting to droop.  The skin around my jaw line or jowls were getting a little hollow.  By 2015 my face was fuller due to weight gain and my eyelids had gotten worse. I was having vision problems in my right eye due to the extra skin and I was very unhappy with my overall appearance.  I decided to make some lifestyle changes so in April of 2015, I underwent Blepharplasty (Eyelid Surgery) which I blogged about here and on my YT Channel.

Lookbook | Urban Decay Electric Palette | Instagram

This is a look that I created for Instagram with the Urban Decay Electric Palette.  The colors are actually very vibrant, I'm just learning how to use my new camera.  I have the Sony a5000 and it's really like a DSLR where I have to adjust all the settings and learn how to use it without using the flash.  Hopefully the photos will become more "true to color" as I go along and get better at it!

Swatches | Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation & Candlelight Custom Enhancer Drops | Video Demo

Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation & Candlelight Custom Enhancer Drops
This is my second purchase from Cover FX since last year. I purchased their Custom Cover Drops (read my review here) in two different colors and I absolutely loved them. Over the summer they came out with a wide range of Pressed Mineral Foundations in a huge array of colors to match a variety of skintones. I immediately found my color match with N80 and I was completely floored. I also purchased the Custom Enhancer Drops in Candlelight which I was totally excited to have based on swatches I had seen on the internet.

Lookbook | Casual Daytime Into Sexy Nightime | Video Collaboration

Lily Seymour & MaryEllen After 60
I did a video collaboration with my very dear friend on Youtube who's channel is MaryEllen After 60. You would never believe that she's actually over sixty because she has the most gorgeous skin ever.  I'm always on her channel commenting on her videos and I've just about bought all the skin care products that she mentions in her tutorials. Our collaboration was a Casual Daytime into Sexy Nighttime so we transformed our daytime looks into the glam that you see here.

Beauty | Top High End Palettes for Fall/Winter 2016 | Video

High End Palettes for Fall/Winter 2016

I asked my followers on Instagram if they wanted to see a video of "high-end palettes" or "high-end highlighters" for Fall they overwhelmingly choose "high-end palettes". So I gave them 6 of my favorite palettes for fall along with swatches.  I also compared them to another palette from the same brand.  The video is a little over 8mins long and is full of fun palettes and swatches. I hope that you take a moment and watch it and also follow me on YT for more video swatches and comparisons.

Swatches | Clinique Pop Lacquer | Lip Colour + Primer

 Clinique Pop Lacquer
I'd never thought about these Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colours until I saw a review on another blog and I started wondering if I could find colors that suited my complexion.  I headed over to the Clinique counter and started swatching on my arm and found the colors to be very vibrant. My lips are a little pigmented and the inside of my arm is the lightest area that comes closest to my natural lip color so  I can pretty much see how the colors would appear on my lips. These lip lacquers cost $18.50 and come in 10 colors.

Swatches | Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows

Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows
As with any Urban Decay new formula I just have to try these Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Eyeshadows because they are one of my favorite brands.  I'm in love with these moondust eyeshadows. They can be worn over any eyeshadow to give it some sparkle or they can be worn alone to give the eyes a hint of shimmer. I used Spacetime over a burgundy eyeshadow and the results were stunning. I'm glad that these came out just in time for the holidays.  These were $22ea, I purchased mine through Sephora and they're also available on the UD website.

Lookbook | Featuring Urban Decay Moondust Pigments

It's been a minute since I did a lookbook post, this was partly because the small camera I was using decided to lose focus so I finally threw it out and purchased a Sony a5000. I'm still trying to figure out the settings.... do I use flash.... don't use flash..... indoor lighting... etc.... hopefully I will get it right because I love creating different looks and photographing them.

Lifestyle ~ Stanton Mahogany Storage Cabinets for Makeup Organization

I recently decided to replace everything in my makeup/office with mahogany furniture so that everything looks more formal. Initially on each side of my makeup table were two silver Helmer's that I purchased awhile back from Ikea, but due to my huge (not massive) makeup collection, I definitely needed more storage. There wasn't many options for mahogany storage but I came across these beautiful Stanton storage cabinets online that came in multiple colors.... black, white, cherry, antique grey and chestnut.

Beauty | SkinCeuticals is my New Skin Care Regimen for 2016

 SkinCeuticals Medical Grade Skin Care

I've decided to move away from department store skin care and upgrade to medical grade skin care because it seems to have the best reviews for new collagen growth and proves to be more beneficial for anti-aging skin. I am still using other items such as Retin-A, Retinols, Peptides and Peels to aid my skin in elasticity and firmness.  I talked about all the products that i'm currently using in my latest skin care blog post 5-Steps to Wrinkle Free Skin as well as included a video demonstrating how I use each product in my nighttime regimen. Here's what the website has to say about each of the products that I purchased.

Swatches | Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003 Review + Video

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003 Review

This is my very first Pat McGrath Labs purchase... yea!! I was so excited to when Sephora pre-released this to all the VIP Rouge members early.  It sold out within minutes of being released. This trio cost $70 and is also sold on her website. There were two versions of this Highlighter/Balm/Pigment which is formally called Skin Fetish 003 in Golden, the other color was Skin Fetish 002 in Nude. There are many ways to wear this trio which contains the Balm, the Highlighter and the Pigment. I made a short 2 minute swatch video highlighting how it is supposed to be applied swatched on my arm.

Lookbook | Unapologetic for the Melanin That Runs Through My Veins

This is me..... i'm 56 and unapologetic for being a beautiful black melanin gal that has no real visible signs of aging like forehead wrinkles, fine lines around my eyes, smile lines or sagging jowls. This photo might not be the best quality because it was taken with my iPhone right before I left to go to the gym..... i'm not wearing any foundation as some of the women at my gym think that I am. I'm wearing concealer underneath my eyes which I set with a setting powder, eyebrow pencil, a few individual eyelashes, mascara and some liquid lipstick. Oh.... I have permanent eyeliner tattooed on the top and bottom of my lids so that it looks like I'm wearing eyeliner when I'm not.  So why am I venting here..... because I don't like confrontation with other women that are jealous of me because I don't look like them. I go to the gym at the same time everyday from 1pm - 3pm Mon - Fri.  I apply the same face routine as you see in this cell phone pic everyday, I wear the same wig and always braid it to the side... sometimes I apply a liquid lipstick and sometimes I apply a chapstick. I take photos almost daily and occasionally post them to my IG page... something that I like to do. Well, if you frequent the same spot day after day... you're bound to get noticed by those that frequent the same spot also.  Sometimes I make eye contact with someone as I pass them by and smile and sometimes I may have to ask someone if they're still using a certain machine..... but it doesn't mean that i'm flirting or trying to steal your man! So when someone walks up to me and ask how long I've known so and so... or ask if so and so has asked for my number.... I'm completely dumbfounded! The gym is my place of solitude.... I workout wearing my earphones so that I won't be bothered. I don't know anyone at my gym by name and I certainly don't go out of my way to talk to people at my gym. I'm very focused and into my workout and when I'm finished I might sit in the sauna or just leave.... just depends on how bad my body aches.  So with all this said... don't single me out because I don't look like you... and because you're insecure in your own skin.... because I'm unapologetic for the Melanin that runs through my veins.
