Fashion | Slowly Losing Weight and Building Muscle with a High Protein Diet

Losing Weight
It's been almost six weeks since I did a fashion post. I told myself that I wasn't going to take any photos until I lost 5 lbs..... so yes, I've managed to loose 5 lbs and put on a little muscle too.  When you're over a certain age, it's really hard to put on muscle. It's a little easier to burn fat and loose some unwanted pounds, but when it comes to putting on muscle, it's a whole new ball game.  For me, it takes months and months for my body to increase muscle mass. While I did manage to lose 5 lbs of fat, my lower body still looks flabby because I've only put on a little bit of muscle.  At 57, I can honestly say that I won't see the kind of improvement that I'm looking for... specifically an tight tush probably until this time next year.  Some people might look at me and say wow you look good but it's still a flabby thin no matter what angle you look at it!

 Losing Weigh
I have always been very dedicated when it comes to going to the gym. I'm back on track doing the same upper and lower body routine that I was doing prior to my ovarian cancer/chemotherapy journey.  My energy levels are all back to normal and i'm back to my regular workout schedule going to the gym 5 days a week lifting weights and doing cardio.  My days off from the gym is Fridays and Sundays and I look forward to them immensely.
Losing Weight

I was around 151 lbs about 6 to 7 weeks ago, so it's taken me that long to loose 5 lbs.  I'm working on building muscle so I'm eating more protein than normal.  I'm probably consuming 100 grams of protein per day and I would say that half of that is coming from food sources and the rest is coming from protein powder and bars.  When it comes to meat, I'm a chicken/fish/turkey eater so I tend to have something from this group with every meal.  I make two protein shakes a day using the Quest Vanilla Protein Powder.  Now they aren't really huge shakes, I mix one scoop of protein powder with about 5 ounces of coconut water and drink it down.  I drink a shake right before I hit the gym to give me energy and one before I go to bed to keep me full during the night.  The shake that I drink before going to the gym I also mix in some BPI Pre-Workout powder. This is for extra energy and to prevent muscle soreness. I also take one Green Coffee Bean Supplement with it. Right after my workout I eat a Quest Protein Bar to replenish my protein levels. I love all the chocolates so I get the "chocolate lovers" box.
Losing Weight
I have a very short torso, I don't know what the normal measurements are for a normal torsos but mine is very short.  I'm 5'7" and I have very long legs.  When I was a little girl, I was all legs. Now that i'm a women and full figured, I carry all my weight around my torso and upper and lower back.  This area will be the last area on my body to shed the pounds.  I've been faithfully wearing my Neoprene Waist Slimmer when I'm doing cardio to help this along.  I can't lift weighs wearing it so I put it on right before I do my 30 minutes of cardio which is always at the end of my workout.
 Losing Weight
I've had these black ripped skinny jeans for about 3yrs, something was always going on that I couldn't wear them.... either too tight or too cold, etc. But today I wanted to wear them with this cute off the shoulder top by Chloe & Katie that I ordered from Nordstroms online.  I don't really wear it off the shoulder because i'm very busty and I have to wear a bra but I liked that it was very long and the fabric was nice and stretchy.
Black Ripped Skinny Jeans
The photo above shows a similar pair that I recently purchased from Amazon,  I was searching for some white ripped jeans and found these in white, denim and black so I ordered all three. About sizing... I ordered a size M, I'm 5'7" and weigh 145lbs. They fit very nicely in the hips with room to spare but they are a little large around the waist so I will pinch them in with my sewing machine.
