Today I bring you some swatches and my thoughts from the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics line. These products were created in the early 90's out of necessity for products that were pure and free of parabens and fragrances that are known to cause havoc on our skin. At present, you can only purchase these product online from the company's website, unless you were lucky enough to have experienced them at one of the many upscale med-spas that are currently using them. Until now, they have been exclusive to industry professionals and spa venues, but the demand for such quality products has the company venturing in new directions. I personally have known about this brand for quite sometime so I was excited for the opportunity to try a few products and see how they preformed.
This Anti-Shine Mattifier controls the oils that penetrate through the skins surface and reduces the shine without taking away it's natural healthy glow. It comes in a beautiful solid (hard) compact case with a sponge underneath for easy application. This mattifier is a sheer lightweight formula that actually feels like a primer but in a solid form. I decided to use it over my day serum without any foundation to see how it preformed. I have oily skin and I prefer using various day serums in lieu of moisturizers after my morning cleanse. I used the sponge underneath to apply it all over my face and went about my usual morning activities. I really liked the healthy glow that I had afterwards with a subtle dewy finish. I had about 2 hours of wear time before I saw any oils peaking through. This is a multi-use product so it can be worn over foundation to set, as well as underneath for extra shine control. This has quickly become one of my must-have staple, I've been carrying it in my gym bag to touch up my face before leaving the gym just in case I have errands to run.
I was matched to Tahitian Sun from a photo I sent to the PR rep....not a good idea I suppose. There were four other shades suitable for women of color and initially I wanted to receive small samples of each but it wasn't something that could be done at this time, so they sent me the full bottle. Below is a photo comparison of another foundation that I use regularly to give you an idea of the difference in color variation. My preference is cool toned foundations with a neutral to orange base to match my undertones.
This Sunset Lunar Dusk Highlighter contains light-reflecting minerals that add shimmering highlights to give the skin a sun-kissed glow. It can be worn on other areas of the body as well such as the legs, shoulders and decollete. I dusted this highlighter using my fan brush slightly over the top of my cheeks and on my decollete for a little extra added delight. It gave my cheeks a beautiful peachy glow without appearing too shimmery. While most other highlighters come in pressed form, this is certainly one that will set the trends that many others will follow.
