Beauty ~ Favorite Bronze Coppery Highlighters for Women of Color

Bronze Coppery Highlighters for Women of Color

I wanted to share my love for coppery bronze colors that I feel compliment various skin tones but especially women of color. I have about 30 highlighters in my collection, half of them are from Mac and the other half are from other brands. When I look through my stash, most of my highlighters are what I call pale golden or blond golden colors which doesn't always flatter my skin.  Within the last two years I decided to search for more bronze colors that I thought would be more flattering on my complexion and this is what I have so far. Using these darker highlight colors on my brown/ebony complexion doesn't make me look too shimmery in my opinion.

Bronze Coppery Highlighters for Women of Color

Guerlain Terra Soleia Bronzer  was released in July 2012 as a limited edition item. It is a very beautiful golden bronze color with more gold than bronze which makes it (in my opinion) more of a highlighter than a bronzer.  The reason I reviewed it with the bronzers is because it can be worn over Guerlain's Terracotta 03 Bronzer for a stunning effect. You can find a swatch here.

Mac Iridescent Loose Powder in Golden Bronze was a limited edition powder that was initially released with the Venomous Villain collection back in 2012.  It is described as a finely milled mixture of Mica and pigments which gives the skin a beautiful sheen. It can be used on its own on bare skin to create a sheer glow, mixed into other products such as foundations and powders or mixed with moisturizers to enhance their iridescent qualities.  This product blends very easily into the skin creating a very lasting luminous effect.

Becca Blushed Copper Shimmering Skin Perfector was a limited edition product until it sold out then they decided to make it a part of their permanent collection.  It is described as having a warm copper finish containing rose gold particles throughout the pigment.  It also has golden micro-shimmering pearls creating the illuminating reflective light that bounces off the skin.

Mac Gold Deposit MSF is described as a luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day. It also comes in a highlight form, with a colour. A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smooths on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks, brows, anywhere on the body: provides an ultra-deluxe polish to the skin.

Mac Extra Dimension Highlighter in Glorify is described as having a coppery finish of finely milled particles with golden shimmer reflects.  True to form with all the extra dimension products it applies very silky and smooth and last without transferring onto other areas of the skin. It can be worn as a bronzer on lighter skin tones or as a highlighter on darker complexions.

Fashion Fair Metal Illuminator is a finely milled highlighter with subtle illuminating sparkles throughout the grains.  There are three other shade in the Fashion Fair collection that gives off different shimmering effect from pink to peach, to amber to bronze.  I think they are all worth collecting and can be layered to create a very different effect.

Mac Shaft Of Gold Extra Dimension Skin Finish is a coppery bronze gold color with shimmer particles throughout the color.  One swatch gives a lot of color and this color is very beautiful on my skin.  My personal preference is the deeper skin finishes that have sort of a coppery color to them, they show up on my skin without leaving my face looking like a shimmery butterball.
