Nails ~ Gel Nail Overlay Using Soak-off Gel Nail System

I decided to do my nails using regular nail polish without the base gel underlay.  For the past month i've been using the base gel, the gel polish and the gel top coat only to find I was still experiencing chips after a week.

So for this manicure, I totally didn't use anything gel related... well not exactly.  I used a regular base coat, two coats of OPI's "It's Totally Fort Worth It" (I know dumm title) and one coat of China Glaze's "Tinsel Town", followed by one coat of quick dry by Sally Hansen.

Then I let my nails dry completely, to make sure that they were totally dry, I waited 4hrs before I applied the Top Seal Gel overlay.  Make sure your nails are completely dry and hard before applying the top seal gel because it won't harden if the nails are a little tacky.

I applied one coat of the top seal gel and let my nails cure for 2 minutes using the UV nail dryer. I did it a second time just to be sure, then I poured some alcohol onto a paper towel and wiped all the sticky stuff off.

It's been 5 days and I haven't experienced any chips but i'm ready to take the polish off and try something different.  Removing the top seal gel is pretty easy and simple, all you need is a grit nail file which is really coarse and just file away the top gel, you'll know when it's off because they will no longer be shiny.

What Methods Are You Using for Your Nails, Do You Use Gel?
